This Privacy Policy explains how Varnamala (the "App") handles information when you use it.

Varnamala is designed to be privacy-first and offline-first. We do not collect, store, share, sell, or transmit personal data from the App.

This policy applies to the Varnamala Android application provided by the developer and covers use on any supported device.

Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

• App refers to Varnamala, the Android application.
• Developer, we, us, or our refers to the publisher of the App.
• Device means any device on which the App is installed.
• Personal Data means information that identifies or could identify an individual.
• Usage Data means information typically collected by analytics or tracking tools (for example, event logs, device identifiers, or IP addresses).

Varnamala does not collect Personal Data or Usage Data.

Data Collection and Use

Information we collect

Varnamala does not request, collect, or transmit personal data.

The App works locally on your device. Text you transliterate is processed on-device and is not sent to us.

For clarity, the App does not collect the following types of information:

• Identifiers such as name, email address, or phone number
• Precise location
• Contacts
• Photos, videos, or other media
• Messages
• Device identifiers, IP address, or advertising identifiers
• Analytics events, crash reports, or telemetry

How information is used

Because we do not collect personal data, we do not use it for advertising, analytics, profiling, or marketing.

Network (Internet) Usage

Varnamala operates offline by default. If you choose to use optional features that require downloading resources, the App may access the internet to download:

• Language models
• Language resources (for example, dictionaries or data files)

Downloads occur only when you explicitly initiate them from within the App. The App does not upload your transliteration text or personal data during these downloads.

Permissions

Varnamala requests only the permissions needed to provide its features. Depending on your Android version and the features you use, the App may request:

• Internet: to download optional language models/resources
• Storage/Files (or scoped storage): to save downloaded models/resources on your device

We do not use permissions to track you or to collect personal data.

Third-Party Services

Varnamala does not include third-party SDKs for:

• Advertising
• Analytics
• Crash reporting
• Social login

As a result, the App does not share your data with third parties for tracking purposes.

Data Security

We take a privacy-first approach by designing Varnamala to run locally without collecting personal data.

Any optional models/resources you download are stored on your device. You control this data and can remove it at any time.

We recommend keeping your device updated and using device-level security features (such as a screen lock).

Data Retention and Deletion

We do not retain personal data because the App does not collect it.

If you download optional models/resources, they remain on your device until you delete them by clearing the App storage or uninstalling the App.

Children's Privacy

Varnamala is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children (or from any users).

Links to Other Websites

The App may include links to external websites (for example, documentation or download sources). If you follow a link to a third-party site, that site is governed by its own privacy policy and practices. We are not responsible for third-party sites.

Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date shown at the top of this policy.
