Anonymous Confessions — Important Disclaimer
⚠ Please read this section carefully before using the Anonymous Confessions feature.
What anonymous means
When you post an anonymous confession, your real name, username, and profile picture are not shown to other users. Instead, an anonymous name selected by the user is displayed.
However, your user account is internally linked to your confession so that we can:
- Delete or moderate content that violates our policies
- Comply with valid legal requests
User responsibility
The developer of Campus Arena is **not responsible** for any content posted in anonymous confessions, or for any harm, damage, defamation, distress, or legal liability arising from such content.
By using the Anonymous Confessions feature you agree that:
- You are solely responsible for everything you post.
- You will not post content that is false, defamatory, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or illegal.
- You will not impersonate any person or institution.
- You will not share personal information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.) of others without their consent.
Image moderation
Confessions that include an uploaded image are held for admin review before becoming publicly visible. Images are screened to prevent:
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content
- Illegal content (e.g. material that exploits minors)
- Graphic violence
Text-only confessions are published immediately and are not pre-screened, but remain subject to our community guidelines and can be removed at any time.
Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign up or log in with Google, we receive the following from Google:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your Google account ID
We do not receive access to your Google contacts, calendar, Drive files, or any other Google services.
Google's own Privacy Policy governs their handling of your data: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Third-Party Services
Campus Arena uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudinary — Profile picture and confession image storage — Privacy Policy
- Google Sign-In — Optional social authentication — Privacy Policy
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — Push notification delivery — Privacy Policy
- Supabase — Database and authentication backend — Privacy Policy
We do not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With service providers listed in the Third-Party Services section, solely to operate the App.
- With law enforcement if we receive a valid legal request (court order, subpoena, or equivalent).
- To protect rights — if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or illegal activity.
Your anonymous confessions are publicly visible to other verified App users, but your real identity is not disclosed in the post.
Data Security
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage.
- API communication is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Profile pictures and confession images are stored on Cloudinary with restricted access.
- Access tokens use short expiry windows; refresh tokens are stored server-side and invalidated on logout.
No security system is perfect. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for breaches outside our reasonable control.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
Account deletion
You can request account deletion from Settings → Delete Account inside the App. Upon deletion:
- Your user profile and role details are removed.
- Your confessions and comments remain on the platform but are disassociated from your account (the anonymous name is preserved for context).
- Your push tokens and refresh tokens are invalidated immediately.
If you would like all associated confessions and comments removed as well, contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Campus Arena is intended for college and university students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 13 years of age.
If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
